Game of Life
The game of life was an imaginary game that I made to play with my friends during elementary/middle school. At that age, our parents often dragged us along to boring adult events and long car rides, so this was the solution to that boredom. Similar to games like D&D, the game of life is a verbal game with a simple premise: the players tell me something they would like to do in the imaginary game world, and I would tell them the result of that action. What made the game so entertaining and special was the fact that the only limits on it were our imagninations. My friends would build and rule over kingdoms and cities, explore the amazon rainforest in search of secret magic powers, or even have a lightsaber duel against darth vader on top of a floating island portected by a magical force field! Sounds pretty absurd, I know, but these were the kinds of adventures that we could have as kids that would never be remotely possible in real life. There were even moments where my friends would want to play the game more than me, telling me things they wanted to do in the game at a sleepover while I was half asleep. This game left a longing impact on my perception of game design, as well as lasting memories for me and my friends that we keep to this day.
