Passion Project

Passion Project: What It Really Means

Don’t do a passion project. Do something you're actually passionate about.
Go make a difference, interesting.
Do LESS but intentional
Do What You’re Genuinely Passionate About: The goal isn’t to impress—it’s to express. Focus on meaningful work that reflects you. This is how you stand out.

Key Ideas to Remember

  • Be Real:
This is about you, not about trying to impress colleges.

  • It Doesn’t Have to Match Your Major:
Your project can be in any area—what matters is that you care about it.

  • Do Less, But Do It Well:
Focus on one thing, and make it strong and meaningful. Quality over quantity.

  • Make an Impact:
Use your interests to give back or help others in some way.

  • Ask Yourself "Why?":
Be clear about why this matters to you. That’s what makes it powerful.

What Makes a Great Project?

  • It says something about who you are

  • It’s not performative—don’t fake it for a resume

  • It’s intentional, not random

  • It connects passion + purpose

Example Formula:

Your Skill/Interest + Helping Others = Real Impact
